The brief was to create new artwork that the rare and unreleased tracks from the well-known ‘Treasure Isle’ label could proudly be represented by.
This had to respect the original Treasure Isle brand as well as celebrate the artists featured within the box set, while keeping the theme of the design bold and faithful to the period.
The brief was to create new artwork that the rare and unreleased tracks from the well-known ‘Treasure Isle’ label could proudly be represented by.
This had to respect the original Treasure Isle brand as well as celebrate the artists featured within the box set, while keeping the theme of the design bold and faithful to the period.
C O N C E P T
The execution was a typographic approach that was in the style of an old gig flyer inspired by previous type-focused Trojan sleeves created over the years. We illustrated the movement of music through the various weights of characters.
Imagine opening a drawer of lead type, laid out and ready for letter pressing a SKA Rarities gig flyer—this is the feel we wanted to achieve.
Every detail had authenticity in mind, from the record adapter graphic and stamped kraft paper finish, to the original Treasure Isle treasure chest and chicken illustrations that were redrawn. The brand’s colour scheme, graphics and vintage feel were taken into consideration throughout the art in the hope that the fans would be able to appreciate and relate to the iconic label in its new light.
